Human Resource Development for Health Research Scheme
An opportunity for NRIs/PIOs serving abroad in health research activities

 

The Embassy of India would like to inform that the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India is administering a Scheme for ‘Human Resource Development for Health Research’ (HRD Scheme) which is intended to create a pool of talented health research personnel in the country by upgrading skills of faculty of medical colleges by specialized training in priority areas of health research. The scheme also has a separate component specifically for emerging young scientists and Non-resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) serving abroad in health research activities so that they can come back to India for undertaking research in indentified areas.

As part of the Scheme, Non-Resident Indians, will be provided Stipend/ Salary and Rs. 1 Crore grant for 5 years. This Scheme provides an opportunity for these persons/ Faculty to return to India and pursue research in any Institute across India.

The priority areas of research identified for the Scheme include Toxicology, Genomics, Proteomics, Geriatrics, Stem Cell Research, Clinical Trials, Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Biotechnology, Genetics, Operational Research, Health Informatics, Medical Ethics, Health Economics and any other area that needs support as per National Health Policy.

The ‘Admission-to-Alumni’ (A2A) portal is an initiative taken by ICCR in coordination with the E-Governance and IT Division of MEA to move from paper based admissions to online scholarship portal. With A2A Portal, systemic needs of implementation structure – from the stage of admissions till the student completes his/her course and leaves the country, including matters related to financial and academic monitoring – will be addressed of this important programme which is aimed at generating goodwill for India."

The Embassy of India would like to inform that the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research is looking for outstanding Scientists/Technologists for filling up of the positions of Scientist ‘H’/Outstanding Scientist for their Unit/Group/Centre at CSIR Hqrs in level 15 (Rs. 1,82,200-2,24,100) of pay-matrix, notified vide Advt. The current dead line of 31 December 2017 for conversion of PIO cards to OCI card(with the fee of NOK155+NOK25) will not be extended. From 01 January 2018, PIO card holders applying for conversion of PIO card to OCI card will be charged full fee applicable to fresh OCI card application. Postal applications received for conversion with the existing fee after 31 December 2017 will not be processed and the applicants will be asked to pay the balance fee. Postal delays are not taken into account by the Embassy.

As per the new ICAO guidelines, any form of handwritten travel documents, including PIO card, are not valid from October 2018. From October 2018, any PIO card holder trying to enter India on the basis of hand written PIO card will be refused entry at the Indian immigration counters and will be sent back. PIO endorsement applications will not be accepted at the Embassy from September 2018.

Applicants are requested to refer to Indian Embassy's website www.indemb.no for updates on fees and OCI/PIO related matters.

"Swachhta hi Sewa" campaign - (September 15 to October 02, 2017)
The Embassy of India, Oslo observed “Swachhta hi Sewa” campaign from September 15, 2017 to October 02, 2017.
The Ambassador called a meeting of all officials and made a special mention of the “Swacchta hi Sewa” campaign to promote the drive for cleanliness and hygiene. During the period, all the unused items were disposed of along with regular cleaning work in the Mission.
A special cleanliness drive was also organized in ‘India House’ and all officials’ residences to mark the campaign.

Travel to India - (Paryatan Parv – Tourism Festival)
5th to 25th October, 2017
The Embassy of India would like to inform that the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in collaboration with other Central Ministries, State Governments and Stakeholders is organizing a “Paryatan Parv” (Tourism Festival) across the country from the 5th to 25th October 2017. The programme is being organized with the objective of drawing focus on the benefits of tourism, showcasing the cultural diversity of the country and reinforcing the principle of “Tourism for All”.
The Embassy would like to request all Indian Associations to encourage all Indian diaspora living in Norway to visit their own country during the event and make it a success. During the period, Ministry of Tourism will organise a number of tourism events across all States in the country.

International Civil aviation organisation will accept only machine readable travel documents from 2018. It is necessay for PIO card holders(which is hand written) to obtain machine readable OCI card in lieu of PIO before 31 December 2017 to avoid any inconvenience during the travel.
 
The Embassy of India would like to inform that the National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR), Goa, India under the aegis of Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India has initiated activities for acquiring a new polar research vessels to cater to the country’s polar studies. For this purpose, NCAOR is inviting Expression of Interest (EoI) from reputed and capable shipyards worldwide. Meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister of Norway in G20 Summit, 2017 in Hamburg, July 08, 2017
On the sidelines of the G 20 Summit in Hamburg, Prime Minister Modi met the Prime Minister of Norway H.E. Ms Erna Solberg. Prime Minister Modi and the Prime Minister of Norway H.E. Ms Erna Solberg discussed bilateral matters, especially strengthening of economic relations. Prime Minister Modi invited participation of Norwegian pension funds in the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund. The Prime Minister of Norway invited India to participate in the Oceans' Conference on the sidelines of UNGA. In a gesture symbolising cooperation for attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Prime Minister Solberg presented to Prime Minister Modi, at the end of the meeting, a football with SDGs inscribed on it.

IMPORTANT ADVISORY IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC - 17 March 2017

Some NRIs/PIOs have reported to Embassy of India in Oslo that they have received telephone calls from Embassy of India number telling them that their immigration case has run into some problem, asking them to deposit NOK 10000-15000 into Embassy’s account immediately as a fine/penalty to rectify the issue. NRIs/PIOs/other applicants are advised not to respond to these telephone calls. Indian Embassy does not make any such demand from any applicants over phone. The telephone calls are fake and the makers of the call use the technology to appear as if the calls are made from Embassy of India’s telephone numbers. NRIs/PIOs/other applicants are also advised to be more cautious before responding to such fake telephone calls and to report any such unusual demands in the name of Embassy of India to us immediately.

Notification on application sent to the embassy through post/courier
Embassy will not accept any cash payments sent by applicants through post with effect from 7th February 2017. The applicants sending Consular/OCI/Passport/Misc applications through post/courier should henceforth send the requisite application fee only through Bankers Draft drawn in favour of 'EMBASSY OF INDIA, OSLO'. Any applications received through post on or after 7th February 2017 with cash fee payment would be returned to the applicants through post. Embassy is not responsible for any postal loss.
OCI applications submitted upto February 2017 have been received at the embassy. The applicants can check their application status on the OCI website (https://passport.gov.in/oci/OnlineOCIRegistrationG.jsp) and after confirming the staus from the website under staus enquirey link, they should submit the Passport/OCI card/PIO card with the receipt at the embassy. No separate communication is being sent to individual applicants.
